UMSI Central (777 North University)

Purpose

This space is intended to serve as a welcoming, inclusive, and flexible environment for UMSI students to gather, build community, and engage in a variety of activities that support their academic, professional, and personal development. Created to provide a dedicated student-centered space on Central Campus — as most of UMSI’s primary facilities and home base are now located on North Campus — this space offers opportunities for student organization meetings, small group project work, events, workshops, and a lounge for studying and connection outside of the classroom. While the primary focus is on student use, the space will also accommodate staff- and faculty-led events, as well as occasional hoteling needs for meetings. This shared, multipurpose environment is designed to foster a sense of belonging, encourage collaboration, and support a vibrant, engaged UMSI community across both campuses. Students are encouraged to drop-in to use this space. Teaching and course-related spaces, including GSI office hours, will be held at the Collegian.
