The Leinweber Computer Science and Information Building will be the new home for the School of Information and will provide expansion space for Computer Science and Engineering Division of Michigan Engineering, bringing UMSI and CSE together under one roof for the first time. Completion is expected in mid-2025. The Leinweber Building will be connected to the existing Bob and Betty Beyster Building, the current home of CSE.
The Leinweber Building will enhance collaboration and provide much-needed space to meet the increasing demand for computer and information science students.
Why a new building?
The building features flexible classrooms and student project spaces, maker labs, offices and event space, all with ample natural light and views of beautiful North Campus. And it’s heated and cooled by the Earth

Since 2010, Larry Leinweber and his wife Claudia Babiarz have supported students and programs at U-M, including in Michigan Engineering, the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA), the Medical School, and the Stephen M. Ross School of Business.
